RE: State v. Marion Nikichimus Sentencing
BOISE – Marion Nikichimus, 24, was sentenced Friday to up to life in prison for the second-degree murder of 37-year-old Elizabeth Sorg. In November 2023, Mr. Nikichimus pled guilty to second-degree murder.
In June 2023, Mr. Nikichimus drove intoxicated to an apartment complex in Boise. Residents of the apartment complex noticed the defendant’s bizarre and confrontational conduct. Some residents, including the victim, contacted the defendant about his behavior. After being approached, Mr. Nikichimus got in his vehicle, and began driving away, when he turned around and intentionally hit a man with his vehicle. That victim was treated at the scene with non-life-threatening injuries. The defendant then turned around again and fatally struck Mrs. Sorg with his vehicle.
The Honorable Ada County District Judge Steven Hippler sentenced Mr. Nikichimus to 20 years fixed, with life indeterminate, stating during the defendant’s sentencing that he “has shown that the community is not safe with him in it at this time and for a long time,” and that the defendant “needs to be supervised indefinitely.”
“On behalf of my office, I extend our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Sorg’s family for this senseless crime,” said Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts. “I want to thank the Boise Police Department detectives as well as my trial team for their hard work on this case. Judge Hippler’s sentence ensures the community is safer.”
