RE: | State v. James Shaylor – Sentencing |
BOISE – James Shaylor, 34, was sentenced Thursday for aggravated assault for threatening a victim with a knife, possessing a controlled substance, and injuring property.
Ada County District Judge Samuel Hoagland sentenced Mr. Shaylor to up to seven years in prison, but retained jurisdiction of Mr. Shaylor for up to one year. A no contact order with the victim was also ordered for ten years.
In December of 2020, law enforcement arrived at the scene of a domestic violence call where Mr. Shaylor was threatening a victim with a knife, and making demands related to a previous battery
incident. After refusing to exit the residence, Mr. Shaylor was taken into custody hours later, and charged with several felonies and misdemeanors.
In May 2021, Mr. Shaylor pled guilty to felony aggravated assault, felony possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor malicious injury to property.
“I want to acknowledge the victim’s bravery in this case,” said Jan Bennetts, Ada County Prosecutor. “Thank you to the Boise Police Department for their hard work at the scene that day and on this case.”
