Memorial for the Forgotten

(Boise, ID) – The Ada County Coroner’s Office is hosting a Memorial for the Forgotten on Friday May 12th at 10am at Cloverdale Funeral Home at the Mausoleum at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery-SW Corner of Fairview and Cloverdale.
The Coroner’s Office has seven unclaimed or abandoned remains dating back to 2012. In order to ensure these remains have a proper resting place, the Coroner’s Office partnered with Cloverdale Funeral Home. Last year, they graciously donated a crypt to store the remains in until such time that loved ones can be located and/or someone will come forward who will take responsibility for them. All remains will be interred into the crypt prior to the service. Last year, 58 remains where interred in the Ada County Coroner’s crypt.
Idaho State law allows coroners to cremate an unclaimed body and the county must do this within 14 days of death. The fifty-eight cremated remains at the Ada County Coroner’s Office are each assigned a case number and proper files are kept in case someone does come forward to claim them. In the meantime, Ada County remains will rest at the Mausoleum at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery thanks to Cloverdale Funeral Home.
The Ada County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard will be in attendance on Friday May 12th to honor the forgotten and to represent the communities Ada County serves. The public and the media are invited to the Memorial for the Forgotten.
