Boise – Warren Shaw, 56, will serve up to 35 years in prison following a string of robberies that impacted several in our community.

Mr. Shaw was on parole in July 2023 at the time he began a 10-day crime spree. The defendant’s crimes consisted of robbing a Fred Meyer and Wal-Mart by threatening the cashiers with violence, stealing a work truck and the tools inside from a local business, stealing firearms from the safe of a resident, and attempting to rob a pawn shop by threatening the store manager with what appeared to be a gun.

On August 5, 2023, Boise Police located the stolen vehicle in a parking lot and waited for the defendant to enter the vehicle before attempting a traffic stop on the defendant. Mr. Shaw eluded police, and was only stopped after law enforcement performed a maneuver to bring the vehicle to a stop. He then led police on a foot chase before being taken into custody.

Mr. Shaw has an extensive criminal history that spans decades and includes convictions of burglary and rape.

The Honorable Ada County District Judge Derrick O’Neill sentenced Mr. Shaw to a total term of 35 years of imprisonment, with 20 years fixed before being eligible for parole, for the crimes of robbery, eluding law enforcement, and felony possession of a firearm.

During Friday’s sentencing hearing, Judge O’Neill stated in regard to this case, “Even if there aren’t physical marks left on your victims, there is trauma. And the wake of trauma you left and the series of crimes that we’re here to contemplate today is staggering.”

“This sentence serves as a deterrent for those who consider committing robberies in our community. This behavior impacts many, and will not be condoned in our county,” said Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts. “Thank you to both the Garden City Police and Boise Police Department for their thorough work on this case, and to my trial team for their hard work.”
