RE: State v. Sean Hurst – Sentencing

BOISE – A 35-year-old man who threatened a victim with a knife last year was sentenced to prison Tuesday for felony aggravated assault and first-degree stalking.

In December 2019, law enforcement responded to a Boise residence regarding the service of a protection order. Law enforcement was also informed the defendant, Sean Hurst, threatened the protected party with a knife. Mr. Hurst barricaded himself inside the residence for a period of time, but was eventually arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanors of two no contact order violations, use of a telephone to harass, intimidate or threaten and resisting and obstructing officers.

A felony stalking in the first-degree charge was brought against Mr. Hurst for harassing the victim in various ways from September 2019 to the incident in December 2019. In July 2020, he pled guilty to both felony charges, the no contact order violations and using a telephone to harass charge.

On Tuesday, Ada County District Judge Darla Williamson sentenced Mr. Hurst to 10 years in prison, with four years to be served in prison before being eligible for parole.

“Thank you to the victim in this case for being so courageous,” said Jan M. Bennetts, Ada County Prosecutor. “I also want to thank the Boise Police Department for their hard work during the tense stand-off and for the follow-ups from both Boise Police officers and Ada County Sheriff’s deputies.”
