A criminal complaint was filed today against Austin Eugene Campbell. The complaint alleges one count of Felony Vehicular Manslaughter for his role in a crash which occurred on March 17th, 2017, near the intersection of Fairview and Bluff. Campbell is accused in the complaint of driving the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and while doing so crashing, injuring his passengers. One passenger, Jacob Cecil, died in the crash. This investigation is ongoing.
A warrant was issued on March 22, 2017, and Campbell was arrested that afternoon by Boise Police. Bond has been set at $750,000. Campbell will be arraigned by an Ada County Magistrate at 1:30 on March 23, 2017.
Felony Vehicular Manslaughter is a violation of Idaho Code § 18-4006(b) and is punishable by imprisonment for up to fifteen years and/or a $15,000 fine.
Mr. Campbell is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
