FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

 For Release: March 2, 2016

 Contact Person:        Shelley W. Akamatsu
  Deputy Prosecuting Attorney
  208-287-7700

Adam Steven Weber, 36, of Boise, Idaho, was sentenced to fifteen years in prison for Felony Driving Under the Influence and Felony Eluding Police by the Honorable Patrick Owen today.

Multiple pedestrians called police after observing Weber’s erratic driving in Star, Idaho, the evening of March 17, 2015.  Weber fled Ada County Sheriff’s deputies down New Hope and Beacon Light Road at speeds of 100 mph.  Weber ran his SUV into a tree and then refused to get out of his car, engaging seven police units in a two hour standoff.  During the standoff, Weber repeatedly threatened deputies he was going to shoot them, and then pointed a black object out his car window.  After his arrest, deputies found a flip type cell phone in his car, but no weapon.

During the sentencing, Judge Patrick Owen noted Weber committed this offense while he was out on bond for different Felony DUI and this constituted his fifth lifetime conviction.  Judge Owen concluded his most important consideration was protecting the public and suspended Weber’s driver’s license for 8 years; the maximum under the law.  The driver’s license suspension will begin after Weber completes his 15 year prison sentence
