02-04-2016 State v. Cameron Everett Post-Sentencing

On February 3, 2016, Cameron Everett Post was sentenced to a total of 15 years in prison for the shooting death of Trent Spreier.

Mr. Post was originally arrested on January 31, 2015 and charged with Second Degree Murder for the killing of his 57 year-old father in-law, Trent Spreier, who was unarmed at the time of the shooting. Mr. Post pled guilty to the charge of Involuntary Manslaughter as well as a statutory sentencing enhancement for the use of a deadly weapon during the commission of the crime on October 27, 2015. The sentence handed down by Judge Richard Greenwood consisted of three years fixed and seven years indeterminate for the charge of Involuntary Manslaughter, with an additional two years fixed with three years indeterminate consecutive due to use of a firearm in the commission of the crime, for a total of five years fixed and ten years indeterminate. Mr. Post will be eligible for parole after serving five years in the custody of the Idaho Department of Corrections.
