On January 16, 2014, an Ada County Jury convicted Domingo Jesus Diaz on two counts involving the attempted sexual assaults of two Meridian women. Diaz went to jury trial on one count of Battery with the Intent to Commit Rape and a second count of Assault with the Intent to Commit Rape. During the trial the jury heard evidence from two unrelated women who detailed their account of being attacked by a stranger.

Diaz is a 19 year old male who was living in Meridian, Idaho. The attacks both occurred shortly after the women had left two local Meridian bars: the 127 Club and the Construction Zone. Detective Dixon of the Meridian Police Department obtained footage from a security camera on the Meridian Community Center that had captured Diaz’s image. From that lead the police were able to create a photo line-up for the women to review. Both selected Diaz as the person who had attacked them, just eight days apart last May.

The case was presented to a jury before Judge Cheri C. Copsey. Sentencing in the case has been set for March 26, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. Diaz is facing a potential of 35 years imprisonment, along with mandatory sex offender registration. The Meridian Police Department is asking if anyone has additional concerns or information regarding Diaz, to contact them.
