RE: State v. Anna Mihelich – Sentencing

BOISE – Anna Mihelich, 54, will serve up to 30 years in prison for aggravated driving under the influence of drugs after crashing head on into a vehicle with four occupants.

On July 2, 2019, Ms. Mihelich crashed head on into another vehicle while driving on Orchard Street, just south of Diamond Street in Boise. The crash left all four people in the victim’s vehicle injured, including a 3-year-old girl who succumbed to her injuries.

Ms. Mihelich was charged with four counts of aggravated driving under the influence of drugs. In July 2020, the defendant pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated DUI.

On Friday, Ada County District Judge Steven Hippler sentenced Ms. Mihelich to serve up to 30 years in prison, with seven years fixed before being eligible for parole. The defendant will also have her driver’s license suspended for 10 years.

“I give my condolences to the family, and I also appreciate their strength during this case,” said Jan M. Bennetts, Ada County Prosecutor. “Thank you to the Boise Police Department for their thorough investigation in this crash.”
