RE: | State v. Conner Brant – Sentencing |
BOISE – Conner Brant, 19, of Boise was sentenced Tuesday for misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.
On July 18, 2019, Mr. Brant was driving West on Amity Road, east of Cloverdale Road, in a pickup, when he veered over the fog line and struck and killed a boy riding a bicycle with friends. Mr. Brant pleaded guilty to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter Tuesday and was sentenced.
Ada County Prosecutors requested a sentence of 365 days in jail, with one month suspended, two years of supervised probation and a 10 year license suspension.
Ada County Magistrate Judge Daniel L. Steckel sentenced Mr. Brant to 64 days in jail to be served as community service and suspended 300 days in jail. Mr. Brant will have his license suspended for five years, serve two years of unsupervised probation and must complete a Safe Driving Class and Thinking Errors Class. Judge Steckel gave the defendant a withheld judgement, meaning if Mr. Brant successfully completes his sentence, he can seek the dismissal of his case.
“I want to extend my condolences to the victim’s family and thank the Ada County Sheriff’s Office for their hard work investigating this case,” said Ada County Prosecutor, Jan M. Bennetts.
