Female human remains found in Foothills north of Boise

Ada County Sheriff and Coroner officials are working to identify human remains found in the Foothills north of Boise Saturday afternoon.

A woman walking her dogs on Sunset Peak Road found the remains in the area about mile past the Bureau of Land Management gate that closes the road to vehicles during the winter.

The woman called Ada County dispatchers just before 1:30 p.m. Saturday to report what she found.

Ada County Sheriff’s deputies met the woman at the gate and she took them to where she found the body.

It appears the remains are of one female adult. They have been taken to the Ada County Coroner’s office, where they are being examined. Information on the identity of the remains is not yet available.

Detectives don’t know yet how that woman got there and what happened. It appears as if the remains have been there for an extended period of time.

Detectives and crime scene investigators finished searching the area for evidence by Tuesday  afternoon.

The gate has been closed to car traffic since late fall.
