Eagle Police investigating fatal car/motorcycle crash

A 29-year-old Boise man died after his motorcycle was hit by a car in the Idaho 44/Edgewood Lane intersection early Friday evening.

Witnesses told police Aaron J. Thomas  was driving his motorcycle westbound on Idaho 44 around 6 p.m. when a 30-year-old Eagle woman driving a car eastbound turned north on to Edgewood Lane and collided with the motorcycle in the intersection. Another car heading westbound on Idaho 44 then collided with Thomas. Initial information indicates Thomas had a green light at the time of the crash.

No one in the two cars involved were injured in the crash. Thomas did not appear to be wearing a helmet.

The crash is still being investigated and no citations or charges have been issued at this point.

Ada County Coroner officials determined Thomas’ cause of death was blunt force trauma.

The Idaho 44/Edgewood intersection has been the site of over a dozen crashes since April, when a blinking yellow turn signal was installed. Most of those crashes occurred when people turning north on to Edgewood from eastbound State Street failed to yield to oncoming traffic.

The speed limit on that part of Idaho 44 is 55 mph.
