Eagle Police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another badly injured at a home in the Wedgewood Estates subdivision early Thursday morning.
Eagle Police were sent to report of shots fired inside a home in the Chinden Blvd./ S. Locust Grove Road area just after midnight.
Police arrived to find 46-year-old man Matthew Rissell deceased and an adult woman badly injured. Both were known to each other.
Paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital where she’s being treated for what appear to be life-threatening injuries.
No one else was injured in the incident. There is no active threat to public safety.
The Ada County Coroner has determined Rissell’s cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of his death was a suicide.
Detectives are working to figure out what happened. Initial information and evidence indicates Rissell shot the woman and then shot himself.
The case is still under active investigation.
