California man arrested after hitting Kuna man in the face with a handgun

A 30-year-old California man is charged with aggravated battery after he attacked another man with a handgun and then shot at the man’s truck as the man was trying to get away at a Kuna area home early Tuesday morning.

Charles Robert Eddy is also charged with a felony count of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and misdemeanor counts of marijuana possession and malicious injury to property in connection with the case.

Deputies began their investigation around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday when they were sent to investigate a report of a fight at a home in the 3700 block of E. Kuna Road.

Deputies found a man with facial injuries and determined Eddy hit him in the head with a handgun earlier that morning. The battery happened after the two men began arguing. That’s when Eddy pulled the handgun from the waistband of the other man and hit him in the head.

Deputies developed evidence Eddy used the  handgun to shoot at man’s truck as he drove away, hitting a back tire. A short time later, Eddy got into his SUV and began driving back to California.

Deputies found Eddy’s car headed westbound on Interstate 84 and pulled him over near Nampa, where he was interviewed then arrested. Deputies found two grams of marijuana inside the car and some drug paraphernalia.

That’s also around the time deputies discovered Eddy had a previous felony conviction out of California, which led to the weapons charge.

Deputies recovered the gun involved in the argument.

Eddy is set to make his initial court appearance Wednesday afternoon. The crime of aggravated battery is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
