24-year-old Baker City man arrested for 2013 robbery of south Ada convenience store

Jonathon L. Whitlow is being held in the Ada County Jail on a $250,000 bond for the armed robbery of convenience store on Five Mile Road in 2013.

The 24-year-old Whitlow, of Baker City, Ore., is charged with felony counts of robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police arrested Whitlow in Baker City earlier this month on an Ada County warrant. Whitlow was brought back to Boise on Wednesday. He is set for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 21.

Deputies began their investigation on Dec. 4, 2013. A man wearing a grey cloth over the bottom of his face walked into the Maverik store at 3080 S. Five Mile Road around 1 a.m., pulled out a handgun, and demanded money from a clerk.

The man walked out a short time later with an undisclosed amount of cash. The clerk was not injured.

Deputies responding to the call searched the area but were not able to find the robber.

A description of the man went out to local media, along with a security video of the hold-up.

Information from the public and other evidence gathered by detectives during a long-term investigation led them to identify Whitlow as the robber. Ada County prosecutors issued a warrant for Whitlow’s arrest in September.

The crime of robbery is punishable by up to life in prison. Anyone convicted of using a firearm in the commission of a felony could get 15 years in prison added on to their sentence on the original charge.
