17-year old boy dies after rollover crash south of Kuna

A 17-year-old Meridian  boy who just graduated from high school died early Sunday morning after he rolled over a truck in the desert east of the Swan Falls dam.

A 15-year-old boy in the truck was badly injured and had to be taken to a local hospital by an air ambulance. A third passenger, a 16-year-old boy, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of what appear to be non life-threatening injuries.

The crash occurred just before 5 a.m. Sunday. It appears the boys were at a graduation party in the desert nearby when they decided to go for a drive east of the Swan Falls/Moore roads intersection. 17-year-old Clayton Tully was driving on a dirt desert road when he lost control of the pickup as it was going around a corner.

Clayton Tully and a passenger were ejected from the truck as it rolled over. It appears no one was wearing a seatbelt.

A witness called 911 to report the crash just before 5 a.m. Deputies found the crash site a short time later and called for the air ambulance.

Deputies are investigating what caused Tully to lose control of the truck.

There was a group of teens in a Jeep near the crash site and another back at the party site. Deputies released those teens to their parents.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office publicly identified Clayton Tully as the driver Tuesday afternoon. The manner of death is listed as an accident. The official  cause of death is pending the results of autopsy and toxicology tests.
