RE: State v. Danielle Radue – Sentencing

BOISE – On Friday, 28-year-old Danielle Radue was sentenced to prison for the murder of her two-month-old son, Dawson.

Honorable Ada County District Judge Patrick Miller sentenced Ms. Radue to up to life imprisonment with 18 years fixed in prison before being eligible for parole. Ada County Prosecutors recommended a life sentence with 30 years fixed imprisonment.

“Failure to take responsibility is a major concern here for the court,” said Judge Miller during the defendant’s sentencing. “We want to set a very high standard for parents and for people taking care of children.”

On May 11, 2020, Meridian Police patrol officers responded to Ms. Radue’s residence for an unresponsive infant. At the hospital, Dawson was found to have suffered severe injuries, including a skull fracture and injury to his brain. Dawson died in the hospital four days later.

“I extend my sincere and deepest condolences to Dawson’s loved ones who suffered a devastating loss,” said Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts. “My team and I take these cases very seriously. I am grateful for the Meridian Police Department’s thorough investigation on this case.”
