Ada County Paramedics Honor First Responders During Emergency Medical Services Week

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week is a time-honored celebration held annually to recognize the men and women who serve in the EMS field. In 1974 the American College of Emergency Physicians was instrumental in establishing EMS week with the help of President Gerald Ford. November 3-10 was declared the first National EMS Week in history. The annual celebration continued for four years until several adjustments were made and the nationally-recognized week was moved to May. This year marks the 40th anniversary of EMS Week and Ada County Paramedics have a weeklong celebration planned to honor their employees. This year’s national theme, “EMS Dedicated for Life” is recognized from Monday May 18, 2014 through Saturday May 24th.

Ada County Paramedics are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The men and women who call Ada County Paramedics their career, share compassion, interest in education and enjoy taking action in our community. Ada County Paramedics respond to 911 calls during a patient’s most vulnerable time and treat each individual with dignity and respect. We participate in many community events and continually give back to the residents of Ada County with programs like our VitalRide Ambulance Membership and our Community Paramedic Program. EMS week is a great time to recognize and honor the individuals who have made sacrifices to serve their community and believe whole-heartedly, as our slogan says, “We’re in it for Life!”

This year, Ada County Paramedics will honor all first responders by celebrating with them during this special week.
