District 2 Commissioner
Rick Visser was elected to the Ada County Commission in November 2016. After graduating from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1990, Rick has spent his career focusing on the legal field. He was the Computer Services Law Librarian and Director of the Idaho State Law Library. He spent eight years as a BSU Adjunct Professor before joining the Idaho Innocence Project where he was the staff attorney and director. In 2013, he retired from BSU after twenty-one years of work for the State of Idaho and ten years with the federal government.
Rick has also spent time serving the community as an Ada County Jail volunteer, Concordia Dean’s Law Advisory Council, a volunteer coach in youth sports, employer support of the Guard and Reserve volunteer and a member of the Supreme Court Technology Committee.
Rick’s priorities as Ada County Commissioner are ensuring responsible growth that protects the quality of life for Ada County residents. He is focused on open space and the environment. He is committed to making Ada County a great place to live, work and raise a family.
Rick has spent the last 40 years in Ada County. He and his wife, Julie have a son, two daughters and one grandchild.
